Allied Timbers Private Ltd recently held the 16 days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence commemorations in Mutare where all the female employees of the company were present. The event was graced by the company’s Board Chairperson Ms. K Mupandawana and the directors, Mr. E Sunduza and Mrs. L Mujuru.
All the female workers were given blankets as a token of appreciation for their contribution towards the company’s growth. Speaking during the event, Ms. Mupandawana said that the company was committed to eliminating harassment against women and men in the workplace. Through the 2023 revised Conditions of Service, sexual relations and love relationships are prohibited as they are breeding grounds for gender-based violence.
Aligning with this year’s global theme, “UNITE! Invest to prevent violence against women and girls,” the event was aimed at increasing awareness of gender-based violence and advocating for gender-inclusive services, including healthcare, psychosocial support, and legal aid for survivors of GBV.
The impact of gender-based violence on women and girls underscores the ongoing journey toward achieving gender equality. Allied Timbers Zimbabwe (Pvt) Ltd remains steadfast in supporting government initiatives to eliminate gender-based violence through policy frameworks and reporting mechanisms.
