Float trays maintain and improve productivity because the transplanting shock is reduced when the seedlings are ready for transplanting. There is a reduction in land required for seedling production as well as the cost-effectiveness of the float. Besides being more eco-friendly, the float tray system produces seedlings with an intact root system and results in a more uniform plant. Additionally, the float tray technology is labour extensive as compared to conventional seedling production.
Transplantation is the technique in which a plant is moved from one location to other. It involves the growing of seedlings or seeds in a piece of well-managed and protected land called the nursery. After the development of a few weeks, the plants are transplanted into the main field for further growth and development.
