SHEQA Officer

An exciting opportunity for the position of SHEQA Officer has arisen for suitably qualified and experienced persons at Allied Timbers Zimbabwe (Pvt) Ltd. Allied Timbers Zimbabwe (Pvt) Ltd is an extensive, local and international provider of high quality and durable timber-based solutions for both industrial, domestic and end user markets. The successful incumbent will report to the SHEQA Manager.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Facilitates SHEQ related issues and on Personal Protective Equipment usage
  2. Carries out HIRA, SHEQ inspections, SHEQA surveillance, accidents and incident investigation and reporting to relative authorities.
  3. Coordinates environmental measurements and submit reports to EMA.
  4. Prepares and submits SHEQ weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reports to the SHEQA Manager.
  5. Contributes to the formulation of the SHEQ Strategic plan document.
  6. Prepares SHEQ audit / training calendar and annual budget.
  7. Coordinates Occupational health surveillance program, conducts SHEQ inductions for new employees and contractors as well as to ensure records of such are maintained.
  8. Conducts and participates in SHEQ awareness and wellness programs internally and externally.
  9. Advises all Allied Timbers Zimbabwe (Pvt) Ltd staff on implementation of new or existing SHEQ-related legislation, rules and Company standards to include fire prevention, health and safety awareness training, site inspections of company and contractors’ sites.
  10. Ensures retention of all current Quality (SAZ) and Environmental (ARSO) accreditations.
  11. Coordinates activities related to implementation and certification of ISO 9001:2015, 14001: 2015 and 45001:2018, (Integrated Management System) as well as maintaining the certification.
  12. Performs any other work related duties and responsibilities that may be assigned from time-to-time by management

 

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Safety and Health, Natural Sciences or equivalent.
  2. National Certificate in Occupational Safety, Health and Environmental Management (OSHEMAC) or any other SHE management professional course such as SHATCO /NEBOSH is a must.
  3. ISO 45001,9001,14001 knowledge and auditing skills will be an added advantage
  4. At least 2 years post graduate experience within a manufacturing or mineral processing environment.
  5. Knowledge in SHE laws and regulations or Diploma in Occupational Safety Health and environmental management is an added advantage.

 

 

Skills and Knowledge

  1. A team player – able to identify and rectify skills gaps and recommend try interventions.
  2. Excellent presentation skills – PowerPoint
  3. Very analytical skills (excel spreadsheet)

 

Remuneration

A remuneration package commensurate with education and experience will be given to the successful candidate.
