ATZ partners Eyes 4Zimbabwe by Donating Brandering for the ceiling of a cottage for Medics

Allied Timbers Zimbabwe has partnered with Eyes 4Zimbabwe which is a Non-Governmental Organisation in Zimbabwe. The NGO was first registered in 1991 and has since invited numerous Specialist Surgeons from various medical fields visits the country to educate and work alongside our local surgeons in various procedures that including teaching cataract surgery to Zimbabwe’s reknowned Dr Solomon Guramatunhu (1991 Ophathalmology) and Dr Alban Bowers specialising in knee surgery(1994 Orthopedics) along with a number of other Surgeons.

According to the organisation, over 100 thousand people from new born to adults are blind, partially blind of which 80 thousand are curable. The main concern is cataracts and Zimbabwe’s limitations is a shortage of ophthalmic surgeons, medical equipment and supplies.

However, over the years, volunteer Medical Specialists with various areas of expertise, have brought medical supplies, equipment, medicines and have assisted Zimbabweans with medical, dental and ophthalmic needs.

All the 78 ATZ staff at Msasa received reading glasses which gesture was extended to their parents and grandparents. The organisation will also distribute to all over 40 years of age and older employees. The organisation will also supply birthing kits for our estates clinics and warm skin tights and schoolbags to schools and new clothing to our employees.

In return, through our Social Responsibility program, the company has donated ZWL$18 thousand worth of Brandering for the completion of the three bedroomed cottage for visiting medical personnel in Greendale North Harare.

The cottage has been built through various donations from 19 companies. Allied Timbers Zimbabwe donated 18 bundles of Brandering timber for the ceiling in contribution to such a noble course.
